“Brenizer Method Panorama”

During work this past Friday a co-worker, Chris, brought up the “Brenizer Method Panorama” and we decided to give it a try. So I grabbed my camera and we headed outside to see what we could do. The “Brenizer Method Panorama” is a name the internet gave to the idea of taking panorama portraits. So, I’m just with that name for now. The method puts an emphasis on the background blur and depth of field. Here is a good article to get more information of the method itself.

Anyway, the first try was a failure. The lens was an 85mm at f/4.0. Not ideal. Then I got the crazy idea to use my works 400mm f/2.8. Why not?! Once I got use to hand holding this giant of a 24 pound lens, I got Chris and an other co-worker to see what could be done with it. Below are the two shots I got and I’ll be honest, I want to do more. Sadly I don’t own a 400mm f/2.8 lens myself, but I do have my 58mm f/1.2 lens. Got to find a model and make some magic. I do like the effect it creates when there is enough around the subject to create an obvious depth. As with Chris’s photo below, he is really the only thing in the shot, so you cannot get an effect of multiple pictures. However, Alice’s picture is a completely different story.

As you might have noticed, I also decided to not crop the images. Wanted to keep their original size and uneven edges to further push the idea of the panorama. There is a bit of a difference in the amount of pictures each image is made from as well.
Check them out and let me know what you think!
