Photograph by Cindy Sherman titled “Untitled #96”
According to PetaPixel this afternoon, the following image has now become the most valuable photograph at $3.89 million at a Christie’s action yesterday. Which is insame. I personally can’t fathom spending that much money on an image no matter how limited it might be. Even though I’m a photographer, and would love someone to buy an image of mine at that price as an art piece, I just can’t see myself doing it. If I had a large amount of money that I could spend on stuff like this, on art, I would probably buy a sculpture honestly. Maybe the futurist sculpture by Umberto Boccioni. Then again, I might buy an image if it was of a very limited run and buy someone’s imagery I enjoyed, which isn’t Cindy Sherman. Who knows, that’s something I’ll think about when I have that kind of money.
